• From Barcelona: (40mins) Coming off the motorway from Barcelona you leave the modern world behind and enter rural countryside dressed in vineyards everywhere you look. The capital city is called Vilafranca del Penedes www.ajvilafranca.es/en.The area is called the Penedes. It is famous for its wine. Most people have heard of Cava (Spanish Champagne) well this is where it comes from. It is also world renowned for the quality of its white wines as well. This is 15mins by car from the house. Here you will find most amenities you need, from restaurants, bars, markets, shops, etc. To get to our house from Barcelona you have to go through Vilafranca and drive higher into the mountain ranges passing thorough the next Village of Sant Marti Sarrocca. A small charming town with a handful of shops including a butchers, grocery, bakery. All fresh produce suppliers. The last town before our house is Torrelles de Foix a tiny town with a lovely church a few shops for the basics. It seems most months the town hall host some holiday festival. The locals are very warm and friendly as you expect people to be in rural areas. Our house is one of other houses in an urbanisation. (housing residence with tarmac roads and street lighting) so its not as if your on your own in the mountains.

• Torrelles de Foix is 6 minutes away, has life's essentials; supermarket, butchers, fresh fish and veg, patisserie, cafés and restaurants and hairdressers. Vilafranca del Penedes, (the principal town of this Wine and Cava producing region), 20 minutes away, has most of life's requirements, including a weekly market, excellent supermarkets, Many restaurants, very tasteful shops in a pedestrian centre, cinemas and a train station. From here trains run to Barcelona every 15 minutes. The coast and it's sandy beaches and beautiful resorts of Sitges and Vilanova; 40 minutes. Barcelona and Reus Airports; 50 minutes. Montserrat; 45 minutes. Port Aventura; 1 hour. Andorra and it's ski slopes; just over 2 hours. Barcelona City; 1hour.
